RELEASE NOTES

This is a Microsoft-signed (Windows Logo Certified) driver. Previously, when installing the driver, a Security Warning box would appear, telling you that the driver is unsigned and you would have to manually dismiss the dialog. With a signed driver, this is not necessary. You may perform unattended, completely automated installations. To do this, unpack the driver files and run Setup.exe to install the driver files before attaching the printer to the system. When the printer is attached, Windows will recognize the device and install it automatically.

This driver package is intended for use ONLY with the following firmware versions:

TTP20x0 >=3.20

To find the version of firmware currently installed on your printer, depress the feed button on the side (rear on the 10x0) of the printer while turning on power. Release the button after a few seconds, and a self-test page will print, which includes the firmware version at the top.

EXAMPLE: 1814-320 = Product 1814 (TTP2020/TTP2030), Firmware 3.20

If you attempt to use this driver with older firmware versions, it will very likely not work due to communication with the Language Monitor! If you don't use bi-directional communication you can use the driver but you have to ensure that the "Enable bidirectional support" checkbox in the Port tab is unchecked. You need to restart the spooler after this setting.

When corresponding with Swecoin about this driver package, please refer to version 2006.2.0.

NEW FEATURES / NOTES

1. The Driver UI has undergone a few changes and enhancements. In the Printer Properties dialog, you will find two new information tabs. These contain direct status readout as well as diagnostic information. These tabs will be useful to deveopers who need to verify that their applications are retrieving status correctly.

2. The 20x0 now officially supports vertical-mount mode. This can be enabled in the Advanced printer properties. When enabled, the retract slot on the printer is used for receipt eject and the regular eject slot is used for retract.

KNOWN ISSUES / NOTES

1. Unlike previous versions of firmware and language monitor, you cannot use the Troy Ethernet Print Servers for bidirectional status over Ethernet, due to timing inconsistencies. There is no provision for status monitoring over Ethernet.

2. If the printer is power-cycled (power is interrupted) and you are using the parallel interface, the queued jobs in the spooler may not automatically continue. If this occurs, the spooler service must be restarted. To avoid this situation, the printer should not be power-cycled while there are jobs pending in the spooler.

3. Using the parallel interface, it may take up to 20 seconds for an error to be signaled. Please allow enough time in your application for this status to be returned.

4. In certain applications such as Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer, changing the Advanced Features like Scaling and Image Adjust has no effect. Any changes desired must be made directly in the printers printing preferences, and then the application must be restarted.

5. In certain applications such as Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer, using driver functions to alter the page size may not work. For example, setting the Reverse option to reduce the top margin may not produce the desired affect. This is because the print job renderer in Word compensates for this motion. Handle all page format adjustments within the printing application if this is the case.

6. If the spooler or printer is power-cycled, and there is a pending error, this may not be signaled automatically until the next bidirectional operation comes through the spooler. This is because Windows deactivates the LM and does not restart it until it is required to process a bidirectional operation. If there is a pending error, the print job that encounters the error will be lost. To avoid losing any print jobs, manually inquire status before every print job.

7. If more than one printer is being used on the same PC, both Language Monitors must be enabled or disabled. Having one enabled and the other disabled will cause incorrect status to be returned.
